Don Miggs’ unique voice combined with songs written to reflect life itself is the very basis for the California based pop–rock band Miggs. After spending a year documenting it on ‘tape’, Don contacted old friend, Michael Lombardo to join his band, and they acquired their drummer through a MySpace ad for a new band member.
With the band members set in place they went out to record their first record in 2002. “Anyway” which was recorded and released without a record label. The album sold more than 10,000 copies at shows, a great feat for a band with no label and no distribution.
Their second album, “Insomnia” was released in 2005 through 33rd Street Records, a Tower Records Subsidiary. They had the privilege to work with producer Gavin MacKillop, who has also worked with Toad The Wet Sprocket and Goo Goo Dolls. 33rd Street Records is a label that gives artist distribution and a higher profit per unit sold than traditional labels, without impeding artistic license.
Miggs released their EP, “Late Nights and Early Mornings”, produced by Chris Manning (Third Eye Blind, Santana and Jellyfish) in 2007. They spent time touring to support the EP with bands such as Train, Cake, and Mandy Moore and had their music featured on various television shows, including the popular show The OC .
The band released their third album in 2008, titled “Unraveled” after being signed to Rock Ridge Music. Rock Ridge Music is home to Reel Big Fish, Attack! Attack!, Autumn Hour, and many more.
Miggs is currently on tour with Stealing Jane, The Direct, and Jennifer Hill and Co. They will be playing the Webster Underground on May 8, 2009 as they tour through July, be sure to check their website for other tour dates as well as upcoming news and journal entries.
