School Boy Humor has a talent for mixing giant hooks and frantic riffs with atypical rhythms and electronica, to make a sound that is contemporary, while still driving and retro.

They spent their teenage years playing in various bands in Little Rock, Arkansas, but didn’t come together until 2007. Compromised of brothers, Phil and Anthony Evans, (vocals/guitars), Greg Scherer (drums), and finally Caleb Spillyards (vocals/keyboards), School Boy Humor has been through a lot to get to where they are now.

Their lyrics tell the tales of relationships and what it is like to be young and chasing a dream. These four would know what that was like. Most being 21 years old, the boys have sacrificed many things, like college, and a possible career as a gymnast to pursue their musical dreams. They hit the road and played in small clubs and venues to promote their names, sometimes not knowing if they had enough money to eat the next day.

They used the internet as a driving force to promote their music, creating band profiles on websites like purvolume and myspace. This worked to create a strong fan base and attracted various record labels. School Boy Humor eventually signed with indie record label, Vagrant, also home to bands, Alkaline Trio, Saves the Day, and Dashboard Confessional.

School Boy Humor went on to release the EP “Camera Shy but Still a Star” in November of 2008. Shortly thereafter, they recorded their full length debut album with producer Geoff Rockwell, who also worked with Forever the Sickest Kids. They released this self-titled debut album in February of 2009.

School Boy Humor is currently on the “What is Love” tour with Rookie of the Year, Jet Lag Gemini, and Kiernan McMullen. The tour will come through the Webster Underground on April 26th 2009 and summer plans have yet to be announced.
