It’s not everyday that a new band emerges from the tundra that is Minnesota. The first band I’ve heard of stemming from the region in a long time is here to stay. Sing It Loud has had a lot of good fortune over the past few years leading them to a strong following on the pop rock circuit.

I first discovered the band after they released “Biting Your Lip,” as an iTunes Free Single of the Week. Enjoying the song, I proceeded to download the entire self titled EP which was first released in March of 2008. The EP is filled with catchy anthems blending cool guitar riffs with modern piano (aka synth).

Less than one year after the EP the band gained awesome exposure opening for other emerging pop rockers We the Kings, Ludo, Hit the Lights, Cobra Starship and All Time Low to name a few. In September of 2008, Epitaph release the bands first full length album “Come Around.”

The album featured guest performances by Justin Pierre of Motion City Soundtrack and Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low. Billboard put the album at #44 on their Heatseekers chart, which looks at the best new bands in the music world. The success of singles such as the title track “Come Around,” and the use of social networking gives the band ways to connect with fans like never before.

Before heading out on the Vans Warped Tour for most the summer, Sing It Loud is currently headlining their own tour with The Morning Light and Friday Night Boys in support. The show will be in Hartford at Webster Theater on May 1st, 2009, be sure to check it out (I sure will).
